Very interesting v-log! I joined the kombucha tea party when I worked at the natural food store years ago. I was introduced to Synergy Kombucha bottles before I sampled homemade kombucha tea. I never made them myself but I've witnessed a communal roommate making it for the house.I agree that kombucha tea is trendy now and how insane some places passed or are considering in passing strange laws. I know I never got intoxicated, like alcohol-wise, from it but I know that I felt so energetic from it. I would say the same thing about raw ginger juice. Have you or anyone made or drank raw ginger juice? It's also cheaper to make them on your own than to buy bottles of it.The kitchen looks nice and clean. I like the island for chopping and preparing food. I hope you have the gas stove instead of the electric stove.
that's odd, i posted a long comment here a while ago but it's not here! weird.wanted to share how much i loved your vlog. amazing how complex the process is for making kombucha tea, makes me appreciate drinking them even more. and really enjoyed the history of kombucha too! anthony, why is a gas stove better than an electric stove? i personally love my electric stove and it's feelings are slightly hurt now. ha ha.
Raychelle, No offense to electric stove. Ha. Ha. I can live with the electric stove but I prefer to have gas stove. I find it easier to make homemade popcorn and cook food with the gas stove. I like to see the fire in the gas ring because it provides the visual temperature when I adjust the heat that I do not see with the electric stove. From my experience with cooking food, I feel the gas stove is more energy efficient than the electric stove.
i see :) i looked up online and yes you're right gas stoves are usually more energy efficient particularly because of one reason: it lights up right away, while electric stoves take a while to heat up.the more i read about it, i discovered that electric stoves are better IF green electricity is being used -i don't use coal electricity for my home, i subscribe to green electricity for my home (captured methane gas, wind energy, etc), since those things are better than the consumption of natural gas. whew. now i feel a little better about my carbon footprint, ha. but yeah, you're right gas stoves are cool :)
Ha. Yes, the reason why I think gas stoves are cool because it light up right way. Not long ago when I shopped at a department store I saw a stove that has BOTH electric and gas rings! There is this one particular model I like that has four gas rings and one electric ring and this another model that has two gas rings and two electric rings. They're fancy stoves and cost quite a bit. I didn't think about subscribing to green electricity. I will do the same thing if I own an electric stove. Thank you for planting a green thought in my mind. What about subscribing to green gas for gas stoves? It's an interesting heated debate (pun intended) over gas stoves and electric stoves.
green natural gas? no idea... all i remember is that i was grateful that my home doesn't have natural gas because if i remember correctly, natural gas isn't natural :) probably better to investigate this... or ask a biology major like Darla! ha.
I agree an investigation is needed to find out which kind of stove produces less carbon footprint. If electric stove is the case it will be hard for me to switch from gas stove to electric stove. The flame has that psychological influence making the house feel cozier on cold days or when I'm sick with the flu, hence the flame becomes one's best companion. However I'm becoming aware there are better models of electric stoves out there. And this discussion makes me wonder if there is a way to produce renewable flames or if the chemists are working on that. I guess this calls for more research. Ha.Darla, if you have anything interesting to share about electric & gas stoves, please let us know. Apologies this thread was hijacked as this one should be about kombucha. Perhaps this calls for a new post on gas and electric stoves.Speaking of kombucha, there are many medical benefits that FDA has not yet officially recognized. I think it's time to recognize the health benefits in natural herbs and be honest about that with the public.
Beside gathering a scoby or ordering one online, is it possible to make a homemade scoby?
You can only get a scoby from someone else, you can't make your own unless you already have a mother scoby. :-(
Interesting that the video is private and couldn't watch it.. I have scobies! I got a batch brewing from sugar based kombucha and another from honey based kombucha! Right now, I am brewing 5 flavors! Blackberry Ginger, Chamomile Hibiscus Rosehips, Dill Pickle, Blackberry and Root Beer.
